Name Queen
Today Bailey came home with a crown on her head and in the center of the crown "Bailey" is written. She tells me she was the "Name Queen" for the day and every day a new person gets to wear a crown! First, you get take a picture with your crown and it gets taped to your cubbie and then the teacher draws a picture of you and all the kids practice writing your name! Isn't kindergarten wonderful!?

Sandi and Stevie Concert
Today Sandi and Stevie were performing at the Danville Library at 4pm so guess where we were! Yup, we were there to see their Sealife Songs show. Gregory said he had a lot of fun, but I think Bailey was a little pooped from school - although she looked like she was having more fun near the end of the show. You'll have to ask her later what she thought about it all. They said the show would last 45 minutes, but it went over 1 hour and 15 so dinner was very late for us today. (We eat at 5p) I fixed somen before we left, but the kids were starving by the time we walked out of the library and it was 108 when we were driving home! (I'm sure you can picture it all - starving hot kiddies (and mommy)) YIKES. Oh well, some days are like that...

First Day of KINDERGARTEN!
Can you believe the day has come when Bailey (my little baby) had her first day of kindergarten?! Well, today was the day and she had a WONDERFUL first day. Daddy stayed home so he could come with us to take her and pick her up before he went off to work. She had a short day today - 8:20am - 11am. For the next two weeks she'll go from 8:20a - 12p and after that we'll find out if she's an early bird or a late bird (cross your fingers she's an early bird!) Anyways, back to school...We dropped her off and were able to stay in the class to hear their good morning song and then we all (parents and siblings) shuffled out of the classroom. When we picked her up all the kids sat on a bench and the parents had to stand in line and Mrs. Van Boening excused each child when their parent got to the front. Bailey said she had a great day and even made her first friend, Sophia. Let's see...she tells me she spent most of the day on the carpet, they sang two songs, read a story about Chester and she got a heart sticker, learned about nocturnal animals (Chester is a raccoon), had 1/2 of a graham cracker for snack (but no water), played outside and went for a walk around the school. She was all smiles when we went to pick her up and said she had a great time! Whoo hoo!

And the Excitement Builds!
Kindergarten starts on Monday and Bailey is just busting with excitement! Tuesday we went to school to pay for everything (pay? yes, this is a public school) and take her school picture and today we went to meet her teacher and see her classroom! This year she will be in Mrs. Van Boening's class. She has to be the sweetest kindergarten teacher around AND she will be Bailey's teacher! Whoo hoo. We're (especially I) am so happy (and relieved)!

Swimming, Swimming, Swimming
This was Oliver and Emma's week to spend at Grandpa and Grandma's house so we decided to go to Stockton to join in the fun! We got there in the morning and the kids all went swimming, came in a drew some pictures, we had a yummy somen lunch, Grandma pulls out some finger lights and the kids play, we played a little BINGO, back into the pool, snack, more swimming, a little tv time, dinner, MORE SWIMMING, bath and ended the day with dessert! Kids are about 3 shades darker and will probably be pooped for the next three days, but they sure had a great day!

Obon!
Today was the Diablo Japanese American Club Obon in Concord. The kids have been looking forward to going all week (maybe longer!) Grandpa and Grandma came over around 3pm and we headed over to Aunty Joey's so we could car pool on over to the obon. We thought we were going to have to park way out in the boonies, but we actually got a so-so spot. First we ate dinner - chicken teriyaki, kushiyaki, sushi, udon, tempura, shaved ice and manju. All pretty tasty! After we ate the girls wanted to get dressed in their yukata. We played some games and then it was time to line up to dance. I took the kiddies and we found our spot. Music starts and we dance TWO dances and the kiddies are tired. They had their fun walking around in their yukata and were done. Thank goodness because it really is even harder to dance there than at practice!

One Last Chance
Today was the last obon practice for the year so we decided to go again and try to learn some of the dances. Daddy said it wouldn't help at this point and I think he was right. They danced all the dances (an hour and 20 minutes worth) and I think I may be able to fake two! Oh well, I'm sure the kids will have fun getting dressed and walking in a circle to the music.

Enjoying the End of our Vacation
After coming home from our fun vacation in LA we've been trying to take it easy. Thursday we were just too pooped to do anything - the kids pretty much had a tv day! On Friday we went to Stockton to visit Grandpa and Grandma. Saturday we pretty much rested while Daddy worked on his projects around the house and today the kids and I spent the morning playing with Camryn and Luke and in the afternoon Mommy went out with her high school friends for our yearly "Mommy's Day Off". As always, we had lunch and chatted the day away. Tomorrow Daddy is back to work and hopefully we'll all settle back to our old routine.
