Today was Clark's first day of vacation and we took the kids to the Monterey Aquarium with Grandpa and Grandma. When we arrived we had a nice lunch at the Portola Cafe and then we spent the next few hours walking around the aquarium. The weather was just perfect and no crowds! We all had a great time.
Our photoshow subscription ends tomorrow (well, the free subscription ends) so I'm trying out some new programs. I like this Hallmark one, but you can't add any writing when you post the slide shows so our entries may come in two sections like this one. To play, just click on the arrow. It takes a bit to load and it loops so just close the window to end show. Enjoy.

Daddy's Run
Today Daddy ran the Run Like the Wind 1/2 marathon in San Ramon.
The kids and I met him about 1/2 way in front of our complex and he was looking pretty good!
"Go Daddy Go!"
But this is what he looked like when he got home!
Here's his bloody shoe. He said his blister popped at about mile 9.5. (He bought these new inserts and they didn't work)

But he finished. 2 hours 1 minute and some change.
Bailey cried for about 1/2 an hour after Clark got home and showed us his bloody foot. Every time she looked at him tears filled her eyes and she'd run to me. So now he has to put on a smiley face and not play with his feet anymore. :)

The Raffle and our fun afternoon at Grandpa and Grandma's
Today we went to Stockton to attend the annual spaghetti feed at Grandpa and Grandma's church. We don't go for the food, we go because they have a RAFFLE! I love raffles. Aren't they just the "funnest" things ever? You buy a bunch of tickets and dump them into the box in front of the prize(s) you'd like to win. Fun, fun, fun!
Backing up a bit, we had to get to Stockton by 11:30a so Daddy could watch golf. Aunty Kristin, Uncle Bob, Ollie and Emma also came to visit, but they missed out on the raffle fun cuz they had birthday plans for Aunty tonight. Well, when they arrived Ollie and Emma wanted to go SWIMMING?! It was a warm day, but I didn't plan for swimming so the kids joined them in their clothes. Water was freezing so swim day didn't last long, but they all had fun and took a warm bath afterwards.

Nubbins
Look what happened last night! Our ENTIRE CROP of lettuce got eaten up. Right down to the nubbins! So blue....and they were doing so well too. The red lettuce was just starting to form some nice leaves. Now we have nothing.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!
Today Daddy turned two fours (as Bailey puts it - she says she is one four and daddy is two fours). We ran errands all morning and when we got home I cooked daddy's favorite dinner and the kids and I baked him his birthday cake! Now we are all stuffed and pooped. (although the kids are wired from too much sugar today! UGH)
I need to work on lettering. I cut too big of a hole in the zip lock bag and daddy had to help me squeeze in b-day. Bailey made the nice rose on top.

Happy First Day of SPRING!!!
Yeah! Spring is here. Spring is my favorite season and I'm so happy it's finally here! The hills are green, the daffodils are blooming along 680 (actually they are past their peak now. strange weather this year), we've had picnic lunches three days this week and...
our doves are back! They've been working on their nest this week and the mommy dove looks comfy now. She didn't even mind it when I went out to refill our bird feeder.
Here's the daddy keeping watch. They are really interesting to watch. They are always close by. Last year they had two babies...we're wondering how many they'll have this year...Bailey says she's hoping for four.
We baked spring cookies yesterday. We made them for daddy's first day of spring lunch, but when I went to make his sandwich I realized we only had one slice of bread! So he had to go out instead.
We sponge painted flowers today in honor of the first day of spring. Bailey did a nice job, but Gregory wasn't into painting flowers.
Here's Bailey's final piece. She wanted purple and green flowers. (We only have red, yellow and blue paint so we need to choose colors we can easily mix)
Gregory was more interested in painting fish
We also made some flowers using oil filters (I wanted coffee filters, but we don't have any), but I guess I forgot to take a picture of them. That's okay. Don't make flowers out of oil filters. The ink gets absorbed between the sheets and the ink fades out.
Forecast for tomorrow is RAIN! Boo hoo...

Hash
I don't think I've ever had hash before, but I was reading a few blogs the other day and people were just raving about corned beef hash and how much they looked forward to the day after St. Patrick's Day just to enjoy the leftovers. Well, I had a little leftover corned beef so I decided to make it into hash. I must say, it really is quite delicious! And I too may boil up a corned beef just to make it again.
Corned Beef Hash
Ingredients
3 - 4 diced potatoes
about the same amount of diced corned beef
1 lg onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Directions
1. Cook onion and garlic in olive oil (or butter) until translucent Remove from pan
2. Brown diced potatoes. Add salt and pepper.
3. Add corned beef and cook until the meat is a little crispy
4. Add onion mixture back in pan and if you have leftover carrots and cabbage chop them up and add them too.
5. I guess most people eat hash with eggs, but we don't do eggs so this step is optional.
6. (If you're like us) Serve with catsup and enjoy!
So if you're wondering what to do with your leftovers...make corned beef hash! It's YUMOLA!

Sprouts
We have sprouts to share today!

Our lettuce started to sprout yesterday!

Our flowers sprouted a while ago, just getting around to sharing

Fun Morning at Tilden Park
This morning we took the kids to The Little Farm in Tilden Park. The farm has cows, pigs, turkeys, ducks, goats, sheep, rabbits and chickens. You can bring lettuce and celery to feed the animals and boy are they HUNGRY! Bailey had a great time feeding all the animals. Gregory had fun from afar. After we fed the hungry animals and walked around a bit, we took a ride on the steam train. Gregory LOVED that! On the way home he kept telling us what a fun day he had. :)
