Gregory's Thanksgiving Feast and Show

Today Gregory had his Thanksgiving Show and Feast at school. The theme was "When the Relatives came to Dinner" and the teachers wanted to surprise the kids with family and friends. (The kids thought they were just having a class feast, but family and friends were waiting in the MPR to surprise them!)
Look at our happy little turkey! The kids sang for about 15 minutes to entertain us all.
Can you find him?
Look who came to surprise Gregory!
Yesterday the kids cooked at school. They made parmesan mashed potatoes, marshmallow covered with smashed yams, cornbread, candy turkeys and fruit salad! (Gregory and I worked at the Parmesan potato station) Other parents brought sliced ham and turkey, rolls, and desserts too!

The Neatest Birthday Party

This afternoon Bailey went to a friend's birthday party at the Danville Bakery. I have to say, this was the neatest birthday party! The kids got dropped off at the bakery and in 90 minutes they decorated a cookie, cupcake and a chocolate cake! Bailey had the best time ever.
Here she is with her cookie and cupcake (we brought a frosted cupcake from home so she was able to eat it after dinner ~ She added a flower from the bakery)

Here's her lovely cake. The decorator added her name and had all the cakes covered in fondant. The kids added icing from a piping bag and sugar heart shapes. Isn't that a great idea?! Once I get enough nerve to let our kids have a "Friend's Party", I think this will be at the top of our list. :)

Holiday Decorations

We've been busy working on our Christmas ornaments
Made some Santa suits
Tried to make these shrinky cup ornaments that turned out to be a big flop, but the kids are still having fun playing with them
I'm thinking we should try again and turn the cups arounds. Maybe the weight will pull the cup flat.
Here's Bailey working on a reindeer kit
Making sure everything is just so
Gregory working on his penguin
Then we decided we'd better work on some Thanksgiving turkeys! Can you believe Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks?!
Aren't they cute?
Here are Bailey's two buddies
Gregory made two too!
Our tree goes up in a couple of weeks so we still have some time to complete our decorations. Yippee! I can't wait to pull out all our Christmas decorations! OH! And Clark is almost finished painting the outside of our house so lights will go up in a couple of weeks too! Whoo hoo! We had a dud house last year since we moved in a couple of days before Christmas so we are all very excited to decorate this year!

Snowmen Ornament

I picked up some mini art canvases today and had the kids turn them into Christmas ornaments!
Work space all set up
First give them a base coat
Paint your fingers
Smash um down
Add a hill of snow and paint your own snowman on the other canvas
Add some details
Lots of details...
Voila! Aren't they cute?
Add a festive red ribbon and our first set of 2011 ornaments are complete!

The Halloween Package!

The postman delivered a box to our house while the kids were at school today. It was a package from Auntie Lynn!
Look what was inside! A little pumpkin for Bailey
And a purple eyed bat for Gregory! So CUTE!
Mommy says, "Okay start unwrapping!" Kids say, "No, that isn't a good idea" So I kinda start it for them. They unwrap and unwrap and unwrap and while they keep telling me this wasn't a good idea, I'm thinking - Gosh, I wonder if this wasn't a good idea and how am I going to get these things back together?!?
BUT! After some unravelling....
Treats start popping out!
Awww! A bunch of fun treats!
Here's what Bailey found in her pumpkin
I love it, Auntie!
And here's what Gregory found in his little bat!

Thank you, Auntie Lynn! You brightened our day and made our Halloween even more special! :)
