Visiting Grandpa, Grandma and Hibachan

Today we went to Stockton to visit Grandpa, Grandma and Hibachan. We had a fun time, as always. Played with all of Grandma and Grandpa's toys, ate lots of yummy food (Bailey ate THREE tacos and Gregory ate TWO! Of course, they were Grandma's homemade tacos so they were quite delicious), played in the pool and picked veggies!

Today Gregory decided he was going to get into the pool. He and Bailey both had fun. In fact, they went swimming twice! Grandpa is going to be very tired tonight. Bailey and Gregory both fell asleep on the way home. Gregory didn't even make it to the freeway! They'll both sleep well tonight. Good thing we don't have much planned for tomorrow.

Bailey and Gregory's Favorite Breakfast Food

We found this nifty pan called a Ebelskiver and you use it to make filled pancakes. The lady at the store says when she makes them they are perfectly round, but mine look more like saucers. So far we've stuffed them with blueberry pie filling, blueberries, hot dogs and jam. I've also made some plain and sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar. Today we made them with hot dogs and Grandma's homemade jam. Gregory isn't a big fan of breakfast, but he'll eat 5 of 6 of these. Bailey loves them, too. Today the two of them polished off the whole plate!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddies out there!

Today we decided to go on a Father's Day picnic. Mommy and Bailey worked on making a picnic lunch. We had spam musubi (Daddy's favorite so we have it on most of our picnics), sweet potato, cucumbers (from Grandpa's garden), finger jello, grapes, spam sticks, somen in inari bags, kamaboko and rice balls. We packed our lunch and went to a park close to our home.

When we got to the park we set out our picnic blanket and ate. After lunch we took out our kite and Daddy and the kids went kite flying! This park almost always has a breeze so it makes for a perfect kite flying spot. In fact, there was another family having a picnic and kite flying too. Bailey flew the kite on her own - and let it go a few times too. Daddy had to make a run for it before it flew away! Hilarious! On the way home Bailey kept saying Daddy is like a jack rabbit - so speedy. I wish I had my video camera going!!

After kite flying we went to the playground to show Daddy how Bailey and Gregory can climb up the ladder on their own. We had to rush home soon after since Tiger was about to tee off. (Yes, we are a family that has to plan around sporting events!) Now, Gregory is snoozing and Bailey is resting while watching her show and Daddy is downstairs watching golf. Happy Father's Day...

Grandpa's Garden

Grandpa loves to garden and in the summer he has a HUGE vegetable garden. He plants lots of different types of tomatoes, zucchini, Japanese cucumbers, Japanese eggplant and peppers. The kids love to go help him pick his bounty. Today we were able to pick cucumbers and eggplant. The kids had a great time searching and picking. I think Grandpa was a little nervous his plants were going to get pulled out of the ground, but they ended up being okay.

Checking out our harvest.

Tomorrow, we'll have to make something with
our fresh veggies!  Maybe grilled eggplant
with daikon and shoyu and a cucumber salad?!

Swimming at Grandpa and Grandma's House

Today we went to Stockton to celebrate Father's Day.

The weather was perfect so we went early and jumped into the pool as soon as we got there. Grandpa and Grandma bought two more floaty animals for us to play with. Bailey tried them all out, but Gregory sat on the sideline at watched. He had a good time playing with the swimming rings and balls without getting too wet.
