A Fun Saturday

Today we had a family day. This morning we went to the zoo, saw the new baby squirrel monkey, made our usual rounds to the lion, giraffe, camel, meerkats, baboon, zebra and elephants, went out for a yummy lunch at a (new to us) Japanese restaurant in Dublin and came home and played in our little backyard pool. The kids had a blast!
Again we forgot our zoo key. Now we're up to FIVE!

Moth Sitting

Emma is off to Hawaii so while she's away we're babysitting her silkworm moths! They just popped out of their cocoons yesterday when I picked them up and today one of them started laying her eggs! I think she had six silkworm - now they are mating and just take a look at how many eggs ONE moth has laid. There are two more mating at the moment so just imagine how many worms she is going to come home to! WOW, this is going to be exciting!

This one is working hard at laying eggs
Gregory tells me they are "sticky"
There are at least 50 eggs in this area (she's moving around!)

Happy Father's Day!

We had planned to take Daddy to the zoo and have a picnic, but plans changed and we decided to run to the Japanese market and go on a picnic at the park and fly kites. Well, Daddy checked when Tiger kicked off and he thought it was at 3:40p, but it was at 1:00p! That changed our plans again! We did make it to the market, but we had to eat our picnic on our kitchen table and golf lasted until dinner time so no kite flying today. Kids were bummed, but Daddy had a happy father's day...

Day at Seacliff Beach!

Well, summer is practically here and had to kick it off with a trip to our favorite beach! We packed a picnic lunch of spam musubi, cabbage salad, grapes, finger jello and cookies, our beach gear and our gazebo and headed out to Aptos to meet Uncle Ryan, Aunty Joey, Camryn and Luke. When we got there we found a nice place to set up our camp and just had a perfect time. The weather was great (a little windy at times, but not too hot and not too cold), yummy food - Uncle and Aunty also brought bbq'd chicken and fruit salad and snacks! We had lots of snacks - and the kiddies all had the best time playing while the grown-ups chit chatted. Only bummer was we had to park upstairs cuz the beach front lot was CLOSED - other than that we had a perfect trip and are planning for our next outing real soon.

Lorikeets are Back!

When we woke up this morning we had planned to go visit the Oakland Zoo, well actually, we had planned to go blueberry picking today, but the place didn't open until 1pm and the forecast for Acampo was 91 degrees so we changed plans. Well, after we had breakfast Grandma called and said it wasn't that hot in Stockton so maybe it wouldn't be too bad. We needed to call for a reservation to pick blueberries so we couldn't do that, but the kids wanted to go to Stockton to swim so we decided to go and visit Grandma and Grandpa instead. Since we were going out there we took a trip to the Stockton zoo first to see the lorikeets! The lorikeets were there last summer and the kids visited them a couple of times and they had just as much fun with them this year.

Gregory saying to get him away from those birds! (Not a fan)
