Fun Day in Stockton

Well, today the kids had a fun filled day in Stockton with their cousins, Oliver and Emma. This is Oliver and Emma's week to spend at Grandpa and Grandma's house so we thought we'd join them for the day.  First we went to the zoo to feed the lorikeets, came home for lunch and went for an afternoon swim.  We had a snack after swimming, followed by a bit of trading Pokemon cards and crafts. Uncle Frank and Aunty Ruth joined us for dinner and we ended the day with more swimming.  I think they will all sleep well tonight!  (Me, too)

Grandma had THREE birds feeding from her cup!

Here's Bailey with a bird perched on her hand.

Emma looks like she's about out of nectar.

CRAFT TIME!

Grandma had a box of craft projects for the kids to work on.
I can't remember the name of this one.

Pool Playdate

Aunty Joey and I took the kids to the play pool in San Ramon today.  The kids played in the water and had a picnic lunch!  Good thing we got there early so we could get a picnic table in the shade!  It's another scorcher out here.

LUNCH!
Spam sushi, mango, strawberries, watermelon, edamame,
pita chips with hummus and cinnamon sugar sticks!
Quite a spread and they pretty much polished everything off!!!
Swimming makes you very hungry!!!

Diablo JA Center Obon

Tonight was the Diablo JA Center Obon and this is something we look forward to every summer!  Grandpa, Grandma and Uncle Frank come out from Stockton and we meet Aunty Joey, (usually Uncle Ryan, but he had to work), Camryn and Lukie there.  This year Aunty Joey's sister and brother-in-law joined us too!  We ate lots of yummy Japanese food - they have the best chicken teriyaki dinners, sushi, tempura, gyoza, kushiyaki, etc...OH and of course SHAVED ICE!  We play games and dance and just have a great time together!

The Girls are ready to dance.

Waiting for the music to start.
My Sweets.
Camryn dancing.
LUKIE! He didn't dance in the circle,
but he was having a grand time dancing on the sidelines!

My little man eating shaved ice.
He let me know earlier today that he wasn't dancing
and it was much too hot for him to get into his costume.
But, you know he had fun!

Chabot Space and Science Center

This morning we packed a picnic lunch and I took the kids to Chabot Space and Science Center.  I had never been so we weren't sure what we were going to see, but it turned out to be a perfect place for us! The kids were able to play with all sorts of things, made a ultraviolet bracelet, paper airplane and a water rocket!  We missed all the shows because we were having too much fun, but we'll just have to plan another visit someday...

This is what Gregory was looking at through the large telescope

Bailey looking at Jupiter!

Here we are looking at the spots on the sun and how quickly the earth moves

This is a HUGE telescope.  Apparently it was in that Tom Hanks movie Apollo 13.

These rockets flew VERY high in the sky.  I have a video (Gregory went again), but I missed this shot because I didn't realize how high they were going to go.

SLIME!

Last night I found a recipe for SLIME and thought the kids would have fun making/playing with the stuff so today we went shopping for glue and borax.  It's the easiest thing to make and the kids have been playing out back for over an hour now!  I've vacuumed, done a load of laundry and I may even get the bathrooms done!  WHOO HOO!  Love it!

All you need is 4oz of glue, 1 t of borax and 1 1/2 cups of water!  A few drops of food coloring to make it pretty and you've got a ball of slime!

PS. Work on a disposable tablecloth...It's a bit tricky to get off the table.  Good thing we worked outside so I could just hose the table down!
