Spooky Crispy Treats

Today, Bailey and I made some rice crispy treats for her birthday tomorrow.

We were planning to make them into jack-o-lanterns so we colored the marshmallow mixture orange, but mommy was having trouble. So I put most of the treats into a pan and made three jack-o-lanterns. (Tip: Don't try to make crispy balls with gloves on - even with margarine on them they get VERY STICKY and they pull away from your hands)

Anyways, we sprinkled our pan of treats with Halloween sprinkles and sat down to work on our jack-o-lanterns. We used fruit rolls for the face features and wrapped them up in plastic wrap.

Daddy's Second 1/2 Marathon

This morning at 5:50am Daddy rolled out of bed to run the Primo's Run for Education. He ran the 1/2 Marathon! The race started in Danville and ended in San Ramon. The kids and I met him at the finish line. I was kind of 1/2 hoping he would just sleep in today and skip the race, but when I woke up at 8am he wasn't there. so I scurried around, took a quick shower and got the kids up and ready to meet him at the finish line. I thought the park parking lot would be open and we'd just hop out and walk to the finish line, but everything was closed so we parked a ways away and ran/walked in (the kids strollered in). I was worried we wouldn't make it in time, but we were able to see Uncle Ryan and Daddy cross the finish line!! We shuttled Uncle Ryan and Daddy back to Danville to get their cars and came home before 10:30am! What a morning! I think I'm ready for a snoozer.

I took a photo of the finish line just in case we missed Daddy.

You're almost there!!

Birthday Celebration!

Tonight we celebrated Bailey and Gregory's birthday. We had a nice family dinner here at the house. We've been slowly getting ready for this one event for a few weeks now, trying to do a little at a time and going full speed since Wednesday. The kids have been SO EXCITED these past few days and they had a wonderful birthday. I think tonight is the fastest they've ever fallen asleep. I think Gregory fell asleep before even lying his head down! Hopefully they'll sleep in tomorrow. Well, not too late - Daddy is running a half marathon and we need to be at the finish line around 9am!!

As always, we had plenty of yummy food!

Visit to the petting zoo

This afternoon I took the kids to Windmill Farms, a local vegetable market, to visit the animals. Every October, they have a bunch of farm animals along with their huge pumpkin patch. Usually we just go and look at the animals, but this year they had food! We watched the animals for awhile and Bailey said she wanted to feed them. So we went to the register to purchase a bag of feed - I'm thinking it's going to be like feeding the goats at the last pumpkin patch and they won't be hungry - BUT they were starving! We should've bought more food, but this way they'll look forward to going back again. Even Gregory got into the action and fed the goats. We can't wait to go back and feed them again! Hmmm, maybe tomorrow after preschool? :)

Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

Today we took the kids to see Joan's Pumpkin Patch in Livermore. They have a great set up. You can really spend the day there if you'd like. They have an area to feed the goats, an old town village area, pony ride, panning for gems, corn maze, lots of photo spots, and tons of pumpkins. Almost too many pumpkins for two little kids to choose from. We tried to feed the goats, who weren't at all hungry, and went searching for pumpkins. We ended up with one medium sized pumpkin, one small pumpkin and six tiny pumpkin gourds. All for $12! What a bargain! :)
