Curly Hair

Today while Gregory was taking a snoozer, Bailey and I played beauty parlor.

We curled her hair once before and she just loved it. She's been wanting to curl it again so today seemed like a good day to sit in front of the mirror and curl away. (She and Gregory have been sick since Sunday with a HIGH fever so we've been holed up for the last five days and are having a hard time thinking of fun things to do inside. No fever now, but Bailey has a terrible cough so we're taking it easy.)

What's for Dinner - Week of 7/6/08

Well, here goes week two. Different from last week, but still in a rut. We are having Greek food tonight and the chicken and one of the dips are a new recipe. I made enough dip for the week. The kids love hummus and pita! I'm hoping they'll enjoy the eggplant dip too. The rest of the dishes we've had before. Its been sometime since we've had somen for dinner - Clark will be happy to have somen. We'll see how it all goes.

Sunday - Greek food! BBQ Lemon chicken, hummus, eggplant dip and feta cheese dip (FAT FREE!), roasted veggies, pita, cucumber and tomato salad. (Grandpa has tomatoes in his garden now! YUM)

Monday - Teriyaki Salmon (we usually have once a week - a rut dish), rice, zucchini & mushrooms, cucumber pickles

Tuesday - Somen & Sushi (spam, kampyo and cucumber)

Wednesday - Stove top Teriyaki Chicken, rice, broccoli and salad

Thursday - Chicken with Artichoke Hearts, stove top stuffing, salad

Friday - Burrito Supreme, Spanish rice, corn and zucchini

Saturday - BBQ Chicken with baked beans, not sure what else...

Happy Fourth of July!

Wow, we had a busy, busy day today. This morning daddy ran a 10K in San Ramon. We decided to go and cheer him on, but we had to leave the house at 7 15am! Mommy packed a picnic breakfast so we could eat at the park, but we still had to wake up early to get dressed and hop in the car. Daddy ran his race in about 50 minutes! After daddy finished running he got a Popsicle, 1/2 a banana and some red punch that he and the kids all shared and we came home to get ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house!

We had a fun filled day at Grandpa and Grandma's house. We picked vegetables - cucumbers, eggplant and tomatoes! We went swimming twice! We had a yummy dinner and we popped some poppers and played with some neon glow in the dark sticks mommy found at Michaels - 15 for $1!! What a deal. Visited with Grandma, Grandpa, Hibachan, Uncle Frank and Aunty Ruth. On the way home, Bailey said "I had a GOOD time at Grandma and Grandpa's!" I know Gregory did too. He was just too pooped to say anything.

Daddy before the race
Having breakfast near the playground.
Picking veggies in Grandpa's garden.
Poppers
Making bracelets and necklaces with the neon sticks.

What's for dinner? Week of 6/29/08

Last night as I was looking through some blogs, I found this lady who shares her weekly dinner menus. I thought, what a great idea! I’ve been in a rut lately. Clark says we have the same things over and over each week. He’s right, but since I have him get the same meats and veggies each week I just end up cooking what’s quick and easy with things we have in the refrigerator of freezer. If I write down what we are having for the week and shop for those meals maybe I’ll get a little more varied in my menus. I’ll try it for a while and see how it goes. I’m thinking I’ll do this on Sundays since Clark goes shopping Sunday mornings before getting his coffee (or lately it’s been Jamba Juice since the kids love them). Let me know what you’re having for dinner too! I’m looking for new ideas. :)

Sunday – BBQ flank steak, rice, miso eggplant, kimchi daikon, cabbage tsukemono, quick Japanese cucumber pickles, ice cream. (I went pickle crazy Sunday and made all three for the week)

Monday – Whole baked chicken, stove top stuffing, rice, gravy, cauliflower, blueberries and homemade ice cream

Tuesday – Butatofu – well, I make it with ground turkey so is that turkey tofu? Broccoli, rice, pickles, watermelon and chocolate pudding

Wednesday – Chicken curry with onion, carrots, potato and peas, rice, pickles, kiwi and watermelon

Thursday – Porcupine meatballs, mashed potatoes and zucchini and salad for mommy and daddy

Friday – BBQ at Grandpa and Grandma’s!

Saturday – Kahlbi, grilled veggies, sweet potato, rice, watermelon

Trip to the doctor

On Monday evening, Bailey ran into Gregory's head and split her lip.

Today (Wednesday), I was thinking it is starting to look infected. So I called the doctor and they told me to bring her in to have a look. Well, apparently that's what a healing split lip looks like. He checked her teeth and gums and said everything looks fine. Told her to lick it and it'll heal faster. :)
